Some of us are trying, striving after some excellent virtue. Lord, help strugglers. Enable those who contend against great difficulties to see greater grace, have more faith, and be nearer to God. Lord, we will be holy, and by Your grace we will never rest until we are. You have begun a good work in us, and You will carry it on (Philippians 1:6). You will work in us to will and to do of Your own good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).

Lord, help the converted child to be correct in his relationship to his parents.

Help the Christian father and mother to be right in dealing with their children. May they not “provoke…(their) children to anger, lest they be discouraged” (Colossians 3:21).

Take away willfulness from the youth.

Take away impatience from the old.

Lord, help Christian men of business to act uprightly.

May Christian masters never be harsh with their servants, with their workers.

May Christian workers give to their masters what is just and equal in the way of work in return for wages.

May we as Christians always stand on our rights, but also be willing to minister to the needs of others.

Charles Spurgeon Prayer & Spiritual Warfare, 207-208.
